The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is a global humanitarian network of 80 million people that helps those facing disaster, conflict and health and social problems. It consists of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the 190 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
Since March 2016, Hellenic Red Cross (CRH) has been working together with the Spanish Red Cross (CRE), other National Societies and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in the Ritsona and Skaramagas camps, in the Region of Attica, Greece.
Since January 2017, there has been a drastic reduction in the population of refugee camps in northern Greece, leaving these settlements and moving to other areas. MOBILE UNIT VACCINATION CAMPAIGN AND STUDENT'S HEALTH CHECK IN FAROS SHELTER FOR UNACCOMPANIED MINORS

Red Cross Mobile Unit team organized a vaccination campaign and student's health check in Faros Shelter for unaccompanied minors on the 29th of September in order to enroll children to the liceum.

The student health card (adym in Greek) is a legal annual document, mandatory for all students when they register in Greek schools. During this procedure, a yes/no questionaire needs to be filled in order to detect any signs of cardio-pulmonary diseases(mostly but only). After that a full clinical examination needs to be performed in all the systems. In the front page the doctor who performs the examination declares whether the student is fit to participate in all physical activities or there are restrictions, or the student needs further medical checks. Plus, possible pre-existing conditions of the student are recorded with the instructions, for the school to be prepared if anything …

20th NOVEMBER: MENOPAUSE INFORMATIVE SESSION IN MULTUFINCTIONAL CENTER FOR REFUGEES (MFC) FOR ARABIC SPEAKERS


Red Cross Mobile Unit Team with the collaboration of HRC Midwifery volunteer Marina Baroutsi and Maria Gotsoulia (Psychologist MFC) are organizing an informative session about Menopause for Arabic speaker women.

The session will be performed in the Multifunctional Center for Refugees (MFC) on the 20th of November from 11:00h to 13:00h.

The session will cover the following points:

- What is menopause?
- Menopause stages description.
- Menopause symptoms.
- Emotional and psychological changes during menopause.
- What could help relief the symptoms?
- Questions and discussion.
Open door to all women interested to know more about Menopause

"BAY CARE" HEALTH PORMOTION ACTIVITY BY MOBILE UNIT TEAM IN WELCOMMON SHELTER

On the 20th of October, Mobile Unit Nurse performed a Health Pormotion activity for parents with children from 0 to 1 year old in Welcommon Sheleter about "baby care".

One of the aims of the activity is to give the opportunity to women to come together in a safe and supportive environment for mutual support and to echange experiences about the first months/year after having a baby.
Mobile Unit Nurse also provides information about breatfeeding, baby bath, nappy change, prevention of nappy rash and first aid management of baby choking.

EHS HAND WASHING HEALTH PROMOTION ACTIVITY
Educational Health Station (EHS) nursing team performed two informative sessions about "Hand washing" for parents and their children that came to the Pediatric Primary Health Center for a routine health check and vaccines administration.

FIRST AID TRAINING IN WELCOMMON SHELTER

Mobile Unit team performed a First Aid Training to Welcommon for french speakers beneficiaries on September 20th.

The objective of the activity was to train the participants on basic knowledge of immediate, adequate and provisional care provided to injured or sick people before being cared for in a care center with the following priorities:
1. Conserve Life
2. Avoid physical and psychological complications
3. Helping recovery
4. Ensure the transfer of the victims to a care center

Next First Aid training for Farsi speakers in Welcommon will be performed the 4th of October at 11:00h.

FIRST AID TRAINING IN MULTIFUNCTIONAL CENTER FOR REFUGEES - HELLENIC RED CROSS (MFC - HRC)

Mobile Unit team in collaboration with Maria Gotsoulia (MFC Psychologist) provided a First Aid Training to MFC arabic speaker users on the 25th of August.

Maria Gostoulia performed the Psychological First Aid training and Mobile Unit team performed the Medical First Aid training.

The objective of the activity was to train the participants on basic knowledge of immediate, adequate and provisional care provided to injured or sick people before being cared for in a care center with the following priorities:
1. Conserve Life
2. Avoid physical and psychological complications
3. Helping recovery
4. Ensure the transfer of the victims to a care center

The activity had 13 participants who could practice what they have learned during the training.

In the following weeks, other First Aid trainings will be organized in MFC for Farsi and French speakers.
